Open Year-Round
This space will be shifting with the seasons. Fall & Winter calls for immune boosting tea and one of a kind pottery mugs to steep them in. Scent your home with warm woodsy candles & incense, while you restore your winter chapped skin with healing balm made with local wild plants.
Spring/ Summer will focus on bright citrus and minty iced herbal teas. Mix up a riverside cocktail/mocktail with tasty shrubs made with local honey. Soothe your skin with after sun body oils, and cooling hydrosol mists. Place your trailside wildflower in a handcrafted bud vase.
Community led Skill Share classes will speckle the calendar. These will be focused on ways we can become more resilient and knowledgeable in the realm of holistic and sustainable living. Classes cover a wide range of topics like; ethical foraging, bodycare, art, gardening, soap making, land stewardship, PNW flora and fauna, etc.
River Roots Apothecary is just a 30 minute scenic drive from Bellingham and minutes away from the Nooksack River, Silver Lake, Mt Baker Wilderness, Mt Shuksan and many iconic hikes.
Swing by on your way through and support my small business and this little mountain town community.
The Story of River Roots
Nestled in the foothills of Mt Baker Wilderness, sits a small apothecary in the heart of Maple Falls, Washington. You’ll notice fresh botanical scents anoint the air when walking through the door. A wall is dedicated to freshly prepared herbal teas, herbs and tinctures that focus on rest, recovery and nourishment. The shop is lined with one of a kind and locally crafted items. Refills are encouraged here, where “Minimal waste & plant based” is the motto.
River Roots was dreamed up in the Spring of 2021 by me (Alison Howard) with the yearning for community connection, growth and to help re introduce people to the calming and restorative powers of plant medicine and Mother Nature. The amount of talent in this area is incredible and I wanted to help showcase local women artists and herbalists.
